Tip Generously this Year!

There was an article in the Sacramento Bee last week about how the restaurant business is hurting.  According to the article this is a result of the slumping housing market.  People are being more cost conscious and eating at places like Taco Bell and Stagecoach instead of California Pizza Kitchen and The Melting Pot.  And so waiters, waitresses, and just about anyone working for tips has taken a major financial hit.  So the next time you eat at a restaurant, please remember to think of the people serving you and tip generously if you can!

31 Going on 45

There's no turning back after this one so I guess I better get used to it.  We went Christmas shopping at the Downtown mall for my brother in law.  He likes LRG and Ecco shirts so we walked into Getta Clue.  I haven't been in this store in almost a decade.  So while I'm looking at shirts one of the clerks comes up to me and asks if I'm looking for something for my son.    You got to be kidding me, right?  I mean it was only eight years ago I got carded at the movie theater for Road Trip and now I'm being asked if I'm shopping at Getta Clue for my son!!??  So have I been aging in dog years since then?  I wasn't even dressed like a dad (wool sweater, shirt tucked in, etc.).

I can't wait for the day when a stranger asks if Angeline is my daughter.

Wedding & Honeymoon Pics

We'll get the ones from our main photographer next month.  Until then, check these out.  Steve's are top notch (even the ones that weren't edited).   http://auteur.smugmug.com/Weddings/394031

Would Filmmakers Make Good Wedding Planners?

I always thought planning your wedding would be similar to making an independent film.  Your budget is limited so you have to spend wisely, trying to be extra creative and make each dollar go the distance.  You have to cast the right people, hire photographers that fit your style, find locations, decorations, etc.  It's like a big production and although you want it to look like Moulin Rouge, it may end up being Saved by the Bell or The Wedding Singer.  But that's fine as long as you have fun and enjoy it.

HAVE FUN and ENJOY!.  It's like a choice.  Choose to stress over it or choose to enjoy it.  I think I'll do the latter.

I believe it was the wife of Stanley Kubrick who said every movie he did took five years off his life.  I don't know how much time I've taken off my life stressing about our wedding so far, but the one thing I know is I would never want to be a filmmaker if producing each film was like planning your wedding all over again.

My prayers go out to all those planning their wedding!

It's 7:35 PM and I think I did enough work today so that tomorrow I will be able to finish in time to take my dad to the airport at 10PM.  That's what happens when an understaffed IT department has a technician out with a broken rib and I get to do all their work.  Are there any "techies" out there looking for a job?  We're looking to hire.

Well there is more to my life than work.

Two weekends ago seven of us from FOCUS went to Long Beach for The Resolved Conference.

We saw a lot of familiar heads (like this guy on the far right)

It was four straight days of sermons, worship music, and good eats!  John Piper said when he first arrived he thought this was an "Asian" conference.  For more pics, click here.

We got home on Monday night, but there was hardly time to rest because ...

Young Couples ski trip in Kirkwood.

We came up Friday night, skied, boarded, and tubed on Saturday, and had game nights on Saturday and Sunday.

Sunday a car wouldn't start, I got sick, and all the roads were closed.  Not to mention a tow truck couldn't come because the roads were closed.  So the guys shoveled the car out of the snow, pushed it up an incline and jumped it, all while holding up traffic.  We had no idea how long we'd be stuck, but God provided a way out.  One of the roads opened up Monday morning, and after a 5 hour drive through blizzard conditions we made it safely home.  There were moments when we couldn't see anything in front of us, not even the road.  There were moments when one of our cars would spin out (once in front of an on-coming snow plow!).  But we made it back safely.  Praise God!
